CREATURE FEATURE

The Place for Heartwarming Animal Stories

ASHLEY

The name conjures up visions of an elegant blonde man, in regal confederate attire, among the graceful magnolia trees of the deep south. Scarlett's on true love...

NOT! Ashley is our newest office resident. She is a whopping twenty-two and a half pounds of pure love and sleek grey coat. A rather nice size dog, unfortunately, Ashley is a CAT!

Arriving in a cramped crate, (of course with her rotund figure, a small compact car would be cramped), Ashley hid for several days under her bed cushion. Slowly she emerged and has been loving and compatible ever since. She adores attention, frequent brushings, and since starting her "long-term" diet has lost one half pound.

Ashley could be just the cat you are looking for! She is bulky, but low to the ground! She is wide, but cushioned! She is sleek, but lumpy! She would make an excellent coffee table with legs, and a loving and faithful companion for anyone with enough will power to maintain her diet, and shower her with affection.

Update

No sooner had the newsletter hit the streets (newspaper jargon for being mailed!), than a call came in for Ashley!

"Yes, she was in; no, she hadn't been adopted yet. Yes, she could go to the right home if her diet was maintained." Enter Sandy Gable, pet lover extrordinaire! It was love at first sight, and Ashley went home with Sandy.

Ashley has adjusted well to her new environment and loves every member of Sandy's family. Only Sandy's sixteen year old feline matriarch continues to ignore Ashley's winsome charm.

Ashley continues to lose weight - from 21-1/2 pounds in April (when Sandy adopted her) to 19.6 pounds in June. As her weight drops, her activity level increases. She now clears the "baby gate" with a single bound, and has great fun chasing her feline and K9 roommates up and down the basement stairs!

Ashley is afraid of nothing, and loves being groomed and pawed! She snuggles in with Sandy's older son in the wee hours of the morning - after prowling the house throughout the night. A far cry from the cat that was deserted because she "couldn't clean herself!"
